It is with regret that due to the developing Coronavirus crisis the responsible thing for Adoramus Orchestra and Choir is to postpone the Dvorak’s 8th Symphony and Stephenson’s Missa Brevis Concert on 28th March 2020. Although the Government has yet to impose restrictions on such events, we have a senior generation of the choir and audience members that we can’t expect to rehearse, travel and attend larger scale gatherings.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience that this may cause. Full refunds will be given on all ticket sales. The website and card payment refund process should be completed by Friday 20th March 2020, please check your bank account after that date and email firstname.lastname@example.org if you still have not received it.
Our prayers are for your health and family in these uncertain times.
Join us for a special and unique programme of music that we are excited to be performing.
Adoramus orchestra and choir are performing Dvořák’s ever popular Symphony No.8 in G; drawing its inspiration from his native Bohemia’s (now Czech Republic) folk music and countryside along with his festive Te Deum; written in response to a commission from his future American employer.
We are privileged to present the debut of ‘Missa Brevis’; specially written for Adoramus by our choir member, music lecturer and composer Robin Stephenson. “...Rather than a paragraph of words to describe…” this ’short mass’, Robin would like us to imagine “a photograph. The chorus is the crowd... Their emotions are almost primal as they are anxious and fearful (Kyrie), shouting praise (Gloria), dancing in the beginning of the Laudamus and then suddenly… crying out for mercy (Miserere Nobis) when the orchestra takes on the role of the forces of evil and finally become calm before the Quoniam and Cum Sancto Spiritu…” The point is to try to communicate the words directly to the whole audience...”
